What we believe in
The Four-Way Test:
- Is it the Truth?
- is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Followed by Rotarians worldwide in their business and professional lives, The Four-Way Test was created by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932. It has since been translated into more than 100 languages and is used by organizations and individuals throughout the world.

What we are doing in our community
Scholarships
Each year our club provides scholarships to local college or vocational/technical school-bound high school students. Ambassadorial Scholarships, to study internationally for one year, are available to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as qualified young professionals pursuing vocational studies. The Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship is the world’s largest, privately funded scholarship program. The Rotary Peace Scholarship provides funding for a two year Master’s Degree Program in “Peace and Conflict Resolution” at one of seven universities throughout the world.
Rotary Youth Leadership Academy
Each year the club sponsors a local high school sophomore or junior to attend a three day leadership training program. The curriculum provides hands-on experience emphasizing citizenship, service to others, communication techniques, personal awareness and growth, and leadership skills.
Share The Harvest
Our club has helped to purchase needed supplies and furniture for Share The Harvest Food Pantry. In addition club members volunteer hours at the pantry helping distribute food and stock shelves.Adopt a Highway Road Clean-Up
Rotarians are committed to the environment and volunteer to collect trash along a section of Highway 5 in both the spring and the fall - doing our part to keep Missouri beautiful.
Rotary Youth Exchange
Each year our club hosts a high school exchange student and offers local students the opportunity to become a Rotary Youth Exchange Student Ambassador. Student Ambassadors benefit from spending a year abroad - learning another language, becoming immersed in another culture and building bridges of friendship, understanding and tolerance. This program changes lives, allowing students to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world we live in, and builds character, independence and problem solving skills that will serve them in years to come.
Westlake Aquatic Center
Club members wanted to undertake a project that would make a significant difference in our local community, something that would benefit the year-round residents as well as visitors, and that would provide a place for the entire community to enjoy. The first few years of the clubs existence included many hours of planning and fundraising to begin such an undertaking. The pool opened it’s doors in 1999 and the mortgage was retired in 2010. Our club continues to provide on-going support for the operation of this non-profit community asset. www.westlakeaquaticcenter.com/
What we are doing in other communities
Wheelchair Foundation
We support the Wheelchair Foundation and have donated funds to provide over 118 wheelchairs since the non-profit organization was established in June of 2000. The Wheelchair Foundation works to deliver wheelchairs to every person in the world who needs one but cannot afford one. These rugged wheelchairs are distributed to mobility-impaired individuals, free of charge, in the United States and around the world giving hope, freedom, self-reliance and mobility to those in need.
International Humanitarian Service
Our club believes in looking beyond our borders. We have assisted with funding for numerous humanitarian projects in Turkey, Thailand and South Africa. In addition we have supported clean water projects, polio eradication, and scholarships for disadvantaged students in Mexico.
I Ride, They Walk
The "I Ride, They Walk" fundraiser was Dennis Dorman's bicycle ride across America raising funds to support the eradication of polio. Our valiant rider has returned, but his journey lives on at Ride4Polio.com. Check out the interactive travel map to view his daily progress, photos, and journal entries.

Why Join Rotary?
Contact us to inquire about membership. Rotary develops character and brings out the best of the human spirit. It teaches people ethics, humanity, cultural awareness, people skills and the desire and ability to serve others. Rotary creates a more positive environment for promoting world peace and understanding.
Rotary always benefits two people. The child who is sick, who is hungry, who is thirsty, who has no clothes, no shelter, no education, no future, no hope . . . that child is the beneficiary of Rotary’s outreach. That child is Rotary’s Business. But another benefit comes to the Rotarian - the one actually providing the service. The Rotarian grows and fulfills the real reason for his or her existence, which is to serve others. The Rotarian becomes an emotionally and spiritually healthier person, a better professional, a better father or mother, a better citizen and a better human being.
Rotary is a service club. Its business is mankind. This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian - the chance to do something for others while experiencing self fulfillment in the process. A chance to give back.
